It is important to remember all PTAs and PTSAs are a business -- a nonprofit business. We have a duty and responsibility to follow the laws and regulations of the United States IRS, and the State of Louisiana to maintain a tax-exempt
501(c)( 3) nonprofit status; and charter requirements of the Louisiana and National PTA to continue PTA affiliation.
All local units in Louisiana have mandatory annual requirements that need to be completed and submitted in order continue operating as a PTA/PTSA.
Louisiana State PTA (LAPTA) extended submission dates for Good Standing Packets until January 1, 2021. If your unit has not yet submitted their Good Standing Packets please contact the responsible District President immediately.
LAPTA has also recognized that there are Local Units who are unable to field the Board of Directors as defined by their specific bylaws but do not want to lose their affiliation with National PTA and their 501(c)3 status with the IRS. To support these PTA/PTSAs, the LAPTA has amended Local Unit By-Laws to put in place a program titled"Protected Units".
